"Diamond Solitaire," first published in 1992, is the second novel in the Peter Diamond series. The plot starts very slowly with the kidnapping of an autistic Japanese girl in London. The author demonstrates his storytelling skills by having Peter Diamond grab a British Airways supersonic Concorde flight to New York City for 5,030. British pounds. With respect to aviation, it seems that the world has gone backwards. Today, you cannot fly at supersonic speed at any price. Later, Peter Diamond is beaten and dumped into the Hudson River. For fans of mysteries that are puzzles, I would rate "Diamond Solitaire" at 4.0 stars.
