One of Hiaasen's better books, if only because it isn't entirely focused on the gradual destruction of nature in Florida. His first couple on this topic were very well received by me, but by the 4th, 5th, etc.... it seemed like I was reading the same book over and over. I haven't necessarily been reading his books in order, but since I was bracing fo the same exact theme this was a nice break. This one does hit full on his other main theme, political corruption, but maintains an engaging plot and his typical cast of colorful characters. This novel has since been adapted into a movie, although as is always the case, the book winds up being very different.
