Extremely interesting read. I grew just as attached to the family of wolves as the author did, and each time he discovered something I was equally surprised and taken by the discovery. The introduction in the book was hilarious, I loved how the author described how most people in the biology department were working with dead organisms even though biology is the study of life. I came to notice how much the author devalued and disbelieved Ooktek’s knowledge of wolves and caribou just because it was gained through oral history rather than science.

However, it was both interesting and satisfying to be able to see the authors opinion about wolves and Indigenous knowledge change throughout his time studying the wildlife. Never Cry Wolf is a witty, comedic but most importantly, informative book that teaches readers a great deal about the value in Indigenous knowledge and the need to root back to this codependent relationship with nature.
