Pablo Escobar was a monster lets face it, he would brutally take out anyone who stood in his way including policemen. This book does not make me feel sorry for him in anyway but it is an interesting account of how he built his massive drug empire. He was at the right moment in time to build a empire of cocaine and successfully during the late 70's into the 80's take advantage of weak border security especially by land and sea to ship in crazy amounts of the drug. If a shipment was caught it was a drop in the bucket compared to all that was being brought into America. Though he did give some to the poor it was all for show to gain public trust and admiration from the people of Columbia. This guy deserved his final end. Good read and highly recommend.
