A little genius goes a long way. Carrie would rather stay in bed than deal with the immoral, sex-obsessed hypocrites who seem to overrun her hometown, New York City. She's sick of trying to be like everybody else. She isn't! She's isolated, friendless, dateless, unemployed, oh ... and she's a genius. When her therapist gives her a five-point plan to change her social-outcast status, Carrie takes a hard look at herself ... and agrees to try.

This movie is a delight.
Carrie, (Bel Powley) reminded me of a younger Nicole Kidman. Carrie's character reminded me of the Alex character on Modern Family. There were some laugh out loud moments. There were several scenes regarding an unreturned treasured book that really made me mad because I've been there. I wish my dad would have taken the action that Gabriel Byrne took. But then I never told my dad about it. There were some pretty scenes of Manhattan and Central Park. The ending was great. My only complaint was that some actors mumbled the ends of their sentences so I had to turn the volume way up
only to be blasted out by the occasional music. That's the only reason I gave this flick 4 stars instead of 5.

I like movies about smart people and Carrie is very smart. This is a movie created by women, but there are no features or commentary. I enjoyed the film because of Bel. Carrie could have been a real jerk but she is sweet and very likable.

This is the most enjoyable movie I've seen in at least 18 months. The description doesn't do it justice. It is not just a "coming of age" story. It is the story of struggling to understand oneself and life--suitable for even the 60+ people who are still trying to be better people. No "action" no graphic sex, and no swearing--hard to believe it got made, but I am glad it did. If I had time, I'd watch it again before it's due. This is my new Holiday Classic to replace Holiday Inn, and I plan to see it every year.

"I have one life and I'm allowed to be happy."
Bel Powley is perfect for this role. Funny and entertaining. Plenty of smart dialogues.

This is a great script and well-drawn characters.
The young male characters mumble their part of the dialogue, so it is impossible to understand what they are saying. And, there was no "Closed Caption" options, so it was sad to hear them talking and not be able to figure out what words they were uttering.
English actors pronunciate their words, so it was easy to understand them.

A nice lighthearted movie.
