"A contemporary novel with a strong suspense element from Oscar-nominated actress Meg Tilly set on a peaceful island village in the Pacific Northwest. Dumped on the eve of her wedding and looking for a quiet place to lick her emotional wounds, Maggie Harris joins her sister on Solace Island, where she hopes to recover from the stunning betrayal. At first, Maggie resists Eve's impassioned argument about relocating permanently so the sisters can open their own local bakery. What she definitely doesn't need on her road to recovery are Eve's efforts to fix her up with their mysterious and alluring neighbor, Luke Benson--even if he is incredibly handsome and desirable. Just as Maggie starts to get comfortable in her new surroundings, a car tries to run her down in the middle of the street. If it weren't for Luke's extremely quick reflexes, Maggie could have been killed, leading her to wonder just who exactly Luke Benson really is... Luke thought he'd left the violence of the high risk security world behind. But he can't stand by while Maggie's life is threatened. Luke will do anything to keep her safe--even moving Maggie and her sister into his house with its state-of-the-art security features. But with the secrets between them and an unknown threat stalking her heels, Luke will have to think fast to prove to Maggie that she can trust him with her life--and with her heart"-- Provided by publisher.

Pros- I really liked the cover.
-The description sounded good.
Cons- The content inside the book.
So here we are with another instalove situation. You know the type..I took one look at him and knew in my core I was safe with him, etc, etc. Really? You know that in under a minute? I also found the main female character very childlike, which made her very annoying to me. Then there were strange random things, like someone in her 20's calling her sister who is also in her 20's poppet. WHO DOES THAT? Then we get to the sexy bits, that were completely cringe worthy. So now we are at the end, which gets wrapped up so quickly that you blink and it is over. Overall, the whole thing was a disappointment.

I listened to the audio version of this book. I've been meaning to read it for awhile, and was really excited to listen to it. I didn't know that it was the author's first book in this genre and I'm glad I didn't know, because I went into it with no preconceived prejudices against it.
I really liked this book. I don't do suspense all that often, but I love romance. There were some complaints about the sex by some reviewers, but I thought those scenes were very well done. I also thought that the mystery/suspense part was fairly strong. I'm not sure where the complaints came from for that.
I loved the relationship of the two sisters and the woman/man relationship. They were both well portrayed. As far as the suspense and the resolution, it was definitely a surprise ending for me...and of course, I thought I had it all figured out. The narration was great. My only complaint was the difference in volume levels throughout. That's on me though, for trying to listen while going to sleep. I will definitely read more by Sara Flynn/Meg Tilly.

Review excerpt: "'Solace Island' is a book that isn’t entirely sure what it wants to be. It starts off reading very much like a romantic comedy and finishes up as romantic suspense. This didn’t greatly bother me since those are both things I enjoy, but I could see how another reader could feel like they started one novel only to finish an entirely different one."

I enjoyed her writing style and the storyline in general. I would definitely read another if this is a series.

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense novel. Well written, love the setting and characters. I can't wait to read the next in the series!
