On my reading list, had seen the movie and thought it might be an interesting read. Thriller about a man, leading a rather humdrum lifestyle, who along with his brother and his best friend find a wrecked airplane and in it find over four million dollars in cash . The rest of book is the plan of how they are to divide up the money and spend it without being caught. Of course problems develop, that lead to jealousy and murder. Seems kind of a morality play about how greed can lead to devastating effects; some situations seem rather implausible and I was really surprise by the ending - morally speaking.

I'd seen the movie year ago, but had sort of forgotten it was a book first. This is a taut, dark thriller that is fully grounded in its regular protagonists who suddenly get dragged into theft, murder, and treachery. I think the film changed the ending somewhat. A great, read in one sitting type of book. Smith also wrote "The Ruins."
