Theodore: "Sometimes I think I have felt everything I'm ever gonna feel. And from here on out, I'm not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I've already felt."
Lyrics of featured song by
Karen O's The Moon Song
I'm lying on the moon
My dear, I'll be there soon
It's a quiet and starry place
Time's we're swallowed up
In space we're here a million miles away
There's things I wish I knew
There's no thing I'd keep from you
It's a dark and shiny place
But with you my dear
I'm safe and we're a million miles away
We’re lying on the moon
It’s a perfect afternoon
Your shadow follows me all day
Making sure that I'm
Okay and we’re a million miles away

Theodore: Dear Catherine, I've been sitting here thinking about all the things I wanted to apologize to you for. All the pain we caused each other. Everything I put on you. Everything I needed you to be or needed you to say. I'm sorry for that. I'll always love you 'cause we grew up together and you helped make me who I am. I just wanted you to know there will be a piece of you in me always, and I'm grateful for that. Whatever someone you become, and wherever you are in the world, I'm sending you love. You're my friend to the end. Love, Theodore.

If it wasn't for the humming and buzzing of refrigerators and air conditioners, this would have been quite enjoyable. This is a serious development in the history of the art of the drama in cinematic form. Often funny, ridiculous, insightful, touching, creepy, and thought-provoking (to explicate each of these would render this comment a full length review). One majorvery brief nude scene of a late stage pregnant woman; lots of obscene language.
I was not impressed with this movie at all. In fact, I found it creepy, boring and stupid. Enough said. Turned it off after about ten minutes.
This was a very well written and thought out movie. Very entertaining and thought provoking!
I returned this.... Why is it in my chevk out spot?? I didn't have any desire to watch it. That's odd I'm not psying for a librarians mistake. Hailllno
Long drawn out; inappropriate language and actions.
A telling tale of what becomes of us as we fall in love with our "smart" devices. We want our devices to be ever more intelligent, but at what price? How well do we want them to "know" us. Samantha is Theodore's girlfriend. She started out as just a friendly OS there to help him organize his files. She becomes very helpful to him - perhaps too much so. Theodore becomes completely emotionally dependent on "her." But, who is "she" really? I think this film is quite prescient. It is warning for what we are becoming. I saw this film when it first came out in 2013. Since then, every time I see someone looking down at their smart phone and smiling, I think of it. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned human interaction? Though the film does not explicitly address it, the movie does hint at what could become of a world where our smart devices are smarter than us and have their own ideas and ambitions? Call me a luddite, but I think it's time to hit the pause button and explore what potential damage lies ahead.
A bizarre movie that kept my interest the entire way through! I liked it.
"Her" is really, really, really, really awful. Really!
Morbidly funny.
Evidently in the future everyone has become a Hipster. The clothing, absolutely disgusting color combonations, and Joaquin Phoenix's offensive Molestache make this film almost difficult to watch. It is an assault on both the eyes and good taste.
Joaquin's character is timid, flavorless, and uninteresting. So, when the (oh, so inevitable) ending comes it is darkly satisfying to see him weep.
This is Her's only true redeeming quality.
