I watched this 'movie' in triple fast forward and it was still too long. Junk!

Wuthering Heights is my favorite novel. While none of the many movie and television versions I have seen even try to approach the depth and ambiguity of the novel, some are fine classics in their own right. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them.
I get what this movie is trying to do. It wants to shock modern viewers the way the original novel shocked its original Victorian readership. But it doesn't work, because all the "shock material" just feels crass and forced.
I'm also not one for the shaky cam aesthetic, though I appreciate how the film is trying for a more gritty approach to the material.
The acting is passable. The direction is competent. I just felt the end product was hollow.

This is a moody take on an already moody story. Not my favorite version, but certainly an acceptable addition to the canon.

Directed by Andrea Arnold in 2011 based on Emily Brontë's 1846 novel, this period drama recreates the world-famous gothic love story.
The director seems to have taken an assumption that the audience knows the story in advance since the film omits so many important scenes such as Heathcliff's life in America.
The deaths of the characters appear so sudden that I wondered what the heck happened.
Compared to the 1939 film, the opening sequence seems monotonous and disinteresting.

Only made it about 30 minutes, before giving up on it. Recommend another picking other film adaptations.

extremely boring not worth to watch at all.

I LOVED this version of the movie. It's gritty and sensual...the landscape and the light are almost like characters in the movie. Gorgeous to watch.

This is the one time I have to agree with all the negative reviews. This movie was really awful. A complete waste of time. There really is no story. It was poorly directed, edited, produced and made no sense whatsoever. Since there was little to no dialogue, I ended up fast forwarding the movie to the end.

Terrible movie. It seemed as if all the scenes were shot in the dark. I couldn't understand what the actors were saying. What was the point of this movie anyway? Did not finish watching this.

Awful. Horrible. Totally missed the point of the love story. As others have commented, had to put subtitles on because it sounded like everyone had marbles in their mouths plus the background noises were overdone. Haven't read the book & don't think I will.
