The Fourth Wall
Book - 2012
"Sean is a washed-up child actor reduced to the lowest dregs of reality television to keep himself afloat. His life was a downward spiral of alcoholism, regret, and failure...until he met Dagmar Shaw. The world of Dagmar Shaw, however, is rarely straightforward. People tend to die around her, and now she wants Sean for something. A movie, she says, but who's to say what her real game is?"--P. [4] of cover.

Add a CommentWhile it may seem that the author is writing a polemic about the shallowness of Hollywood, it is cleverly disguised as a rollicking science fiction / murder mystery. It takes on the blogosphere and the internet. And like the other two Dagmar Shaw novels out there, it seems almost prescient. Keeping in mind that this was written years before the latest Facebook scandal of sharing information, it reminds us that the information is out there already.
I admire Williams' writing style and the great story line of a washed up child actor trying to keep a career in show business alive, and the 'fake news that the protagonist so blithely provide to advance their agenda- again, years before it became a part of daily headlines.
Really enjoyed this, the 1st book By Williams I have read. I will be reading more
The story kept me reading all the way through, but it was not that satisfying in the end.
It was interesting to see what Dagmar Shaw is up to.
I imagine in the next book we'll see how what she's doing in this book goes horribly wrong.
This author truly loves the corporate sociopathic lead as hero/heroine.
An insipid, terribly boring read, and it now becomes understandable to me why people like this author, or lives in New Mexico, voted in that simple-minded neocon, Martinez, to be their governor.
Zero creativity, mass boredom.
