Barbie magically comes to life in this modern adaptation of the E.T.A. Hoffmann classic. The tale begins when Barbie, playing the role of Clara, receives a beautiful wooden Nutcracker as a gift from her favorite Aunt. That night, while Clara sleeps, the Nutcracker springs to life to ward off the evil Mouse King who has invaded Clara's parlor. She awakes and aids the Nutcracker, but the Mouse King shrinks her by casting an evil spell.

I really enjoyed watching Barbie in the Nutcracker! I thought that the story line was engaging and entertaining, and all of the characters were well-developed and likeable. I liked the festive theme, alongside the lessons and messages hidden within the story. I also like the magical aspect to the movie, which adds wonder and awe to the entire experience! The movie has catchy music, lively animations, and a really fun plot, which will definitely grab the audience’s attention! I would recommend this movie to other viewers, as I think the adventure, friendships, and setting was very intriguing and enjoyable to watch! @PenelopeScriptor of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Barbie in The Nutcracker brings the beautiful ballet to a movie setting in a loveable, childish way. The sophisticated ballet is made to be understood easily by children, yet still holding on to the classical magic that adults know and love. The classic Sugarplum Fairy dance is incorporated beautifully and while prompt children to dance along with Barbie as they get into the holiday spirit. The tale is absolutely timeless and can even be enjoyed by the adults watching with their children. It was easy to watch and totally enjoyable, the light tone helping it to become one of those movies that can even be put on in the background. This was my first Barbie movie when I was a little girl. I still love it and with Tchaikovsky's music weaved through out the film, it makes it a beautiful family movie to watch!
