Going Home
Finding Peace When Pets Die
Large Print - 2011
Jon Katz has written meaningfully about the cherished bond between humans and animals-especially our intense connection to our pets. Now Katz addresses the difficult topic of saying goodbye to a devoted companion, and offers comfort, wisdom, and a way forward from sorrow to acceptance. Drawing on personal experiences, stories from fellow pet owners, and philosophical reflections, Katz provides guidance and support for those in mourning. By allowing ourselves to grieve honestly and openly, he posits, we can in time celebrate the dogs, cats, and other creatures that have so enriched us. Book jacket.

A good read.
With the Recent Loss of our Beloved Cat Tobey this book helps quite a bit with our Grief. As The Author says some people may say he was like a Family Member, No this is not true, He was a Family Member for 18 Years. He gave us Many Happy Memories and we will never Forget Him.
This book is always available in the Plane Tree Health Information Center @ Cupertino Library. GL 209 K 2012
Excellent, practical advice on dealing with the death of a beloved pet whether the pet dies of natural causes or must be euthanized. The author does not descend into emo treacle. Mr. Katz lives on a farm and has owned many pets. His words carry the weight of experience.

Read this book when I knew my dog was nearing the end of his long life. Helped me greatly to make the decision the next morning not to prolong his suffering.
