I liked it enough to finish, although it seemed a departure from his early books. It further confirmed my wariness of lawyers, thankfully I've had few occasions of need. This was certainly a vivid, detailed description of the variety of lawyers and the nature of their finagling.

I loved this book. I'm a big fan of John Grisham anyway and this book certainly did not disappoint. I actually looked forward to my commute every day. The characters are likeable, with their usual shortcomings. Very entertaining. Being familiar with the big corporate law firms, I was rooting for David Zinc all the way!

Nothing really spectacular happens and the reader was a little monotone, but it was an okay book

Not one of my favorite Grisham books, although there were a few chuckles in the story that were memorable. The story line is believable, but got a little boring in the middle. I did like the way he wrapped things up, nice and neat!!

Grisham did a very good job with crafting this one. 9 of 10 for me.

What a find. I liked the early Grisham, but then later novels seemed like tired retreads, phoned in, flat. (Similar to other best selling authors like Paretsky--just seem churned out after awhile) But this is hilarious Grisham. Great dialogue. Reminds me of Wolfe's Bonfire or Hiaasen's farces. I listen to tons of audio books and this is the first laugh-out-loud.

Interesting book, different from the usual style it has humor in it and shows how simple lawyers can make mistakes by of the cuff comments. Enjoyed the book.

David Zinc, an escapee from a high-buck billing factory type of law firm (a Grisham staple) joins the low rent firm of a couple of street lawyers in this entertaining story. Inexperienced in mass torts they jump on the band wagon to try sue a huge pharmaceutical company for a cholesterol reducing drug they claim causes heart problems. One hitch, the company's had plenty of lawsuits in the past for bad drugs but there's nothing wrong with this one. In a side story, David pursues another lawsuit against a toy company for lead poisoning. The book contrasts a so-called frivolous lawsuit with a grimly legitimate one. Some of the characters are just caricatures, but I enjoyed this novel very much. Enhanced by a great reading by the talented Boutsikaris.
