“Miss Ellis?" Mrs. Perterson says. "It's your turn. Introduce Alex to the class"
"This is Alejandro Fuentes. When he wasn't hanging out on street corners and harrassing innocent people this summer, he toured the inside of jails around the city, if you know what i mean. His secret desire is to go to college and become a chemistry teacher, like you Mrs. Peterson."
Brittney flashed me a triumpnet smile, thinking she won this round. Guess again, gringa. "This is Brittney Ellis," I say, all eyes focused on me. "This summer she went to the mall, bought new clothes to extend her wardrobe, and spent her daddy's money on plastic surgery to enhance her, ahem, assets. Her secret desire is to date a Mexicano before she graduates."
Game on...”

Brittany Ellis and Alex Fuentes lead completely different lives. Alex is the classic bad boy, he’s part of a gang, gets into fights and rides a motorcycle. While Brittany lives on the wealthy side of town with her perfect family, friends and boyfriend. To some, it seems as if Brittany has it all. Due to a twist of events, Alex finds himself being partnered up with Brittney during Chemistry class. To maintain his reputation, Alex agrees to a bet with his friends that he can get Brittney to fall head over heels for him in two months. As Alex spends more time with Brittney, he begins to learn that appearances can be deceiving. I didn’t really expect to enjoy this book so much. After all it seemed like a cliché YA romance novel, you know the bad boy meets the good girl, they fall in love and all that stuff. But in this book, I just loved the chemistry between Alex and Brittney, their relationship never felt forced.

At first, I wasn't so sure. I read it and I was thinking about putting it down, but it seemed like it was gonna get good so I gave it a chance and now I absolutely love the book! I would recommend this book for anybody who loves a romance novel with suspense.
This doesn't break any new ground in terms of character development (the poor Latino guy who is in a gang but who looks out for his family! the rich white girl who has a miserable home life!), but that did not prevent me from tearing through this steamy tale of star-crossed lovers. I also liked the super-cheesy epilogue, but that is probably just because I am an old lady.
I LOVED this book. I was hooked the second I started reading. Something about the combination of gang life and romance was totally awesome to me. I even got to Skype with this author at my school.
If only theyd make a movie for this
Romeo and Juliet for the modern age. This is a romantic book with strong appeal to males, making this perfect for guys and girls to read!
Love love love this book. Awesome book !!!!
This was a cliche star crossed lovers novel. Despite that, It's was still a novel that entertained me enough to finish the end. However, I don't think I'll be reading book 2 and 3.
this is the best book I ever read, I can't wait to read the other two!!
