I love all Charlaine Harris books! Excellent read, all of them

Being a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse books, I try to get my hands on all the short stories. I realized I had missed this one so I borrowed it from the library.

The first part had a long story about Sookie visiting Sam's family in Texas. If we ever needed proof that Sam is boring as a suitor, this is it. I had a hard time finishing it.

Another section contains email/phone call transcripts between Eric & Bill. OK we know that Eric summoned Bill to work for him on different occasions. Do we care about the exact wording? It adds zero value.

Another section was an interview with Allan Ball. WTH? He's not a part of the book world. Let him write his own True Blood book.

Next was an interview with Charlaine Harris - nothing new in here.

And a huge section of the book: an index of all characters and summaries about them.

This book is a good refresher if you have not read the series in awhile and would like to refresh your mind on it before the new book comes out. However, it isn't that necessary to read. The novella about the wedding is a good read and the Bill and Eric conversations are amusing but besides that this book is just a summary of the series and not necessary to read.

I love the Sookie Stackhouse series however I had a hard time getting into this book.

This book is completely unreadable!

The novella is very entertaining and at nearly 80 pages, the book is worth getting just for that. The secret Bill-Eric conversations were amusing and the recipes were pretty neat. Life in Bon Temps was mostly summaries of the Sookie Stackhouse novels.

This is a fun waiting-for-the-next-Sookie-Stackhouse-book-to-come-out read for lovers of the Harris series. The short story is fun; if you love trivia, then the rest 200 pages will keep you happy. Otherwise, it's filler, but fun filler

Okay, so I cheated a little. I did not read the couple-hundred page glossary at the end of the book. The plot summaries were particularly helpful in refreshing my memory as to what events took place in which books. Bring on the next one!

80 very enjoyable pages (short story, "Small-Town Wedding").

The rest is filler IMO, if you've already read the novels.

Despite what the comment before mine claims, this book series IS NOT the driving force behind the HBO series. I'm sure it was initially, i.e. 4 years ago when it started and before they changed every character and plot in the storyline. And good thing, too; HBO banks on trashy drama and terrible softcore pornography to drive their viewership, and anyone who's read even one of these books knows the MC in the books is diametrically opposed to that sort of thing.

The show is not the book is not the show. Enjoy one, enjoy the other, enjoy both, but you won't get them confused.
