This is my second Reichs novel and first one featuring Temperance Brennan. Pretty good but it takes a while for the story to develop - Reichs does not have the narrative gift of a Lee Child or Michael Connelly. Also, stylistically Strunk would seethe at sentences sans 'said.' Set in Quebec for the most part and featuring Quebecois villains.
Another winner. This keeps you on the edge of your seat and you don't want to put it down
Loved this book in the Temperance Brennan series. As usual Tempe is investigating several deaths and examining lots of bones. In this one, it's easy for us to see that someone new in the office in Montreal is not what she seems but Kathy Reichs has to back up Tempe's discovery of treachery with science as usual. Tempe's really smart but sometimes a bit too dense. Oh well, at least her relationship with Andrew Ryan is going better by the end of the book.
This book is over-written. The characters are confusing, I can't remember who is murdered and who is suspected. Diligent reading will bring its reward, but it should not be this hard to follow a plot.
This is book number 12 in the Temperance Brennan series. It's a real page turner. This is set in Montreal. Quebec.
I found the premise of this book to be very intriguing and the format of the book - told through flashback until the mystery is solved - greatly enhanced the suspense. Kathy Reichs even managed to sneak a critique of her profession into the story to enhance the relevence of the tale, which was kind of neat. Having said all that though, again her trademark style of writing was at times jumbled and confused. Many times I had to reread sections to figure out who was speaking and the plethora of characters referenced left me wondering just who everyone was. Not her best in the series.
Really interesting! Lots of science, less about relationships as in her previous titles. A good book to listen to on audio!
I did not enjoy this book. It felt like a lecture - very dry. I could not finish it.
Ugh. Painful to read. Could not finish it. The writing feels scattered.
Another terrific read by author Kathy Reichs. This one has main character, Temperance Brennan, fighting corruption in the Montreal forensic department where she works. Always a thought-provoking read. After all the books she's written, I still look forward to reading each and every one!
