My first Mary Kay Andrews book, but not my last. Quirky characters, implausible plot, and some very questionable choices in remodeling, but a very enjoyable book nonetheless. Not sappy and the sex scenes are more cute than graphic. About a 7 hour read.

The story centers way more around the political scandal than it does the old southern home and family history. Those were just a small part of the story. We only get to see a small part of the renovation and we learn nothing about the family history except a couple of "hearsays" and rumors.
Disappointing.

A light and fun read with some more serious issues that are dealt with using dry wit, sarcasm and pointed comments. Thoroughly enjoyed the book and its characters.

Interesting story and interesting for those who like to do a little renovation. I wish there was an epilogue at the end to tie up some story lines. A good light read with quite a bit of humour to keep you laughing.

This is a light novel; good for summer reading. The plot and character development are not very deep. It will probably appeal most to those from Georgia or with some connection to the south.
