If you enjoy reading high-flying adventure/fantasy stories from yesteryear - Then - "Peter Pan" is definitely a book that is worth your while to check out.

This enjoyable story about a boy who never grows up was written more than 100 years ago by Scottish-born novelist, James Matthew Barrie.

I think that most everyone living in the Western world is familiar with the character of Peter Pan and what he has come to stand for in the realm of youth, innocence, and escapism as it stands today.

The fictional story of Peter Pan was first published back in 1902. It was written by Scottish-born novelist, James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) who was 40 years old at the time.

Peter Pan is a magical tale of a young boy who can fly and who never grows up. He spends his time having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the lost boys.

The character of Peter Pan has become something of a cultural icon symbolizing youthful innocence and escapism. To date, this character (in one form or another) has been featured in a variety of media and merchandise, including movies, comics, music, and yes, even psychiatry.

This book also includes numerous illustrations by Michael Hague.

This classic is beautiful and fascinating. I loved Barrie's use of language, and how colorful and full all of the characters were.

I found this book difficult to read so I ended up listening to the audio book. I really enjoyed the story and was glad I decide to listen to the story!

This was an enjoyable book. I enjoyed reading it. However, the illustrations were TERRIBLE. For example: Peter Pan only wore underwear made out of leaves which was held on by a belt, with a thin trail of leaves up to his shoulder. I would be careful about letting children look at the pictures.

Despite the reference to "rich, detailed illustrations" in the description, there is not one illustration in this edition. A disappointment for a young reader.

I had a really great time reading this book. The Peter Pan movie is one of my favorite movies and reading this book stirred up a lot of memories from the movie. It was kind of diving back into my childhood. And I am seriously in love with Peter Pan.
Basically the only reason that this didn't get 5 stars from me is because of the ending. I won't say what happened, but it is different from the movie and it completely broke my heart.

When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.

Never say goodbye, because goddbye means going away, and going away means forgetting.

All children, except one, grow up.

"So Pan," said Hook at last, "this is all your doing."

"Aye, James Hook," came the stern answer. "it is all my doing."

"Proud and insolent youth," said Hook, "prepare to meet thy doom."
Old and sinister man," Peter answered have at thee."

"Based upon Sir James M. Barrie's 1904 play about the boy who refuses to grow up, the film begins in the London nursery of Wendy, John, and Michael Darling, where three children are visited by Peter Pan. With the help of his tiny friend, the fairy Tinkerbell, Peter takes the three children on a magical flight to Never Land. This enchanted island is home to Peter, Tink, the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and her Native American nation, and the scheming Captain Hook who is as intent on defeating Peter Pan as he is from escaping the tick-tocking crocodile that once ate a hand of his that Peter Pan cut off--and loved the taste of so much.
