I concur with most commentary in that this George Lucas catatonic vehicle was unfortunately painfully dull. I was hoping for more. The vintage Lola T70 (?) race car escape scene was the only part with a pulse, and I *believe* that was a 2004 CGI update to the original, if I am not mistaken.I concur with most commentary in that this George Lucas catatonic vehicle was unfortunately painfully dull. A very interesting biopic. An ex-patriate, but also a true patriot. Personally, it shed some light on this brave soul's selfless sacrifices, as I was admittedly previously only partially informed.

I am a fan of classic Westerns, and this doesn't hold a candle to its namesake, John Sturges' 1960 blockbuster with Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, Eli Wallach, James Coburn, et al.
And that in itself was an American homage to a '54 Japanese film, Seven Samurai, which I've never seen, but plan to.I am a fan of classic Westerns, and this doesn't hold a candle to its namesake, John Sturges' 1960 blockbuster with Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, Eli Wallach, James Coburn, et al.

A powerful film. Heavy. Weighty. Affleck, Williams, and Lonergan are all well deserving of the accolades they received for this one. FIVE STARS.

I selected this film primarily as an Eastwood film that I had never seen, but I agree with another's sentiment that it misses the mark -- not one of his best.

Not great. The dialogue was lame, as was the premise. The highlight of this one for me was solely the eye candy that is Margot Robbie.

Sacha Baron Cohen should say it all. In a nutshell. Pushing the envelope. I thought it was a nice departure from his typecast villains, seeing Mark Strong in a comedic role for a change.

Sad to say, as a lifelong Trek enthusiast, I wasn't bowled over with this popcorn flick. I am aware of their fan-base, but I don't believe the Beastie Boys are a good fit for anything Star Trek. Oil and water. And I could go on, but I'll leave it there. Sorry Simon Pegg and Justin Lin, neither of you are close to being in Gene Roddenberry's category.Sad to say, as a lifelong Trek enthusiast, I wasn't bowled over with this popcorn flick. I noticed a newspaper ad showcasing a local hipster theater headlining witch-themed films, and this retro title was included. I checked out the BPL's inventory, and, Voilà! there it was. Quaint. Dated, but entertaining, nevertheless. Jack Lemmon was comical grooving with his bongos. I read that Cary Grant vied for Jimmy Stewart's part, and that Jimmy felt miscast as Kim's love interest, as he was about twice Novak's age. Against my better judgement, I borrowed this DVD from the library, as previews make every movie look interesting. I am not a fan of Kristen Stewart and her sour puss. With that added instant drawback, needless to say, I was not overwhelmed with this one.Against my better judgement, I borrowed this DVD from the library, as previews make every movie look interesting. I had a feeling that I would be underwhelmed with this, because frankly, I find mostly anything that James Franco headlines in, it is as such. Pity. And the former Ms. Depp was nothing more than arm candy here, in a brunette wig. Ed Harris is looking old, but was perfectly cast as the volatile patriarch.I had a feeling that I would be underwhelmed with this, because frankly, I find mostly anything that James Franco headlines in, it is as such. A valiant effort on the Coen bros. part with this homage to the Golden Age (...'51?) of extravaganza films. The plot was just not all that interesting, however.
